Every scroll on Chitra is chased into the metal by hand. This is chitai work: a craftsperson taps the pattern into the surface, one flowing leaf and tendril at a time, so the design has real depth you can feel with a fingertip. It is not printed and not stamped.
The result is a wide, low bowl in a soft golden colour that holds light the way a good brass piece does, at a weight you can lift with one hand.
A lotus at the heart
Look inside and you will find a twelve-petal lotus chased into the floor. Turn the bowl over and the same lotus is there underneath, finished with four soft black felt pads so it sits quietly on wood, marble and glass without scratching.
How to use it
Float marigolds and rose petals for Diwali or a pooja. Add tealights or diyas for an evening table. Fill it with water and a few blooms for a centre table, or leave it empty on a console as a sculptural piece. It takes up to 3.3 litres of water.
Part of the Six Elements
Chitra belongs to Metal. Every Elements of Decor piece is designed to combine rather than stand alone: the right mix of stone, metal, wood and ceramic does more for a room than any single expensive object.

A wide, low bowl with a floral scroll chased in by hand and a lotus at its heart. It holds water, petals and floating candles, and it is light enough to move from the puja shelf to the table.

On material
Metal, chased by hand.
Chitra is aluminium, light enough to lift with one hand, finished in a soft golden colour. The floral scroll is chased into the surface by hand in the chitai tradition, so every bowl carries small differences in the pattern. We treat that variation as the craft, not a flaw.
